Kumbukumbu DT SACCO Society Ltd was registered on 2^nd July 1975 under registration number CS/2355. It began by drawing membership from the National Museums of Kenya as its parent company before attracting membership from other corporations which included the British Institute in East Africa (B.I.E.A), Kenya Museums Society (KMS), Nature Kenya, and other external individuals under the common bond. It has nine management board members, three members of the supervisory board, and six members of staff.
